Description
Flower Cat is a painting I finished on January 16th, 2024. Acrylic on canvas, 20"X24". Flower Cat is a character I made up. One of her super powers is that she can grow her whiskers long and turn them into flowers, as a result of eating radioactive flower seeds she had mistaken for catnip. The flower seeds had come to Earth from outer space via a meteor they were stuck to. Now, when Flower Cat climbs into a box, and the wind catches her flowers just right, she uses her flower power to fly around, like she's in a hot air balloon, using the flowers as a sail.
During her travels, Flower Cat has witnessed many horrors, and that's why she looks a little sad. She does what she can to help people in need. She a calming presence. When she sees people who are thinking of doing something harmful, she floats down to them, and they are so amazed to see a flying cat with whisker flowers, they get distracted from the harmful thing they had been thinking of doing. She meows at people and makes them smile. She purrs to help people calm down, and once they are calm, sometimes she lets them give her head a scratch and lets them sniff her whisker flowers. Flower Cat loves meeting people and hearing their stories. She often has a long cry with people as she listens to the hard times they have been through.
One day, Flower Cat lands in the home of a vegan family. They give her vegan cat food. Flower Cat feels safe with this family, and decides to stay. But she misses helping people in need. Fortunately, she discovers this family likes helping people in need too! They spend their days doing activism and volunteer work. Their goal is total liberation. A world where all beings are happy, safe, and free.
