Description
This project was a fun challenge in both form and function! While the end result is a full lamp, the real star of the show is the transformation of a raw log into a delicate, hollowed-out lightbulb.
The contrast between the tight-grained sycamore and the fragrant Port Orford cedar creates a striking aesthetic, all brought to life by the glow of modern LED technology.
The Lightbulb: Hand-turned from a solid piece of Sycamore. The intricate piercing allows the light to dance through.
The Lamp Base: Crafted from Port Orford cedar, providing a sturdy and aromatic foundation for the piece.
The Glow: Powered by 4 x 0.5w COB LED strips, which give off a warm, consistent light without the heat of traditional bulbs.
The Finish: Everything was sealed and enhanced with several coats of Danish Oil for a natural, low-sheen lustre.
