What an interior designer actually wants in her forever home

I am potentially moving and I have been very clear with myself about one thing... my absolutely NOT list. First up: corner fireplaces. It would take a miracle for me to ever buy a home with one. They are an eyesore, they are nearly impossible to decorate around and as an interior designer they make me deeply uncomfortable. No thank you!

No pool either. I have one now and the honest truth is I don't use it nearly enough to justify what it takes to maintain it. I am really thinking about the season of life I am in and what my home actually needs to support that. I am getting closer to retirement which means one level, functional, joyful and designed for the life I am actually living right now... not the life I think I should have. And here is the best part: I want something I can either build from the ground up or a home that needs real renovations because my designer brain is very much still working and I love nothing more than a good project, especially when I get to bring all of you along for the journey.
