People always ask me how to style a coffee table and my answer is always the same... use the exact same design principles you would use in any room in your home. Because a coffee table is really just a room in miniature.
Here is what I did with mine... I started with scale and proportion... a large statement candle vase paired with a large candle so nothing feels mismatched or lost. Then I stacked coffee table books, larger ones on the bottom graduating to smaller ones on top, to complement the height of the candle and keep the scale feeling intentional throughout. Then came balance and texture... a natural organic bead rope, a rattan candle base, materials that feel cohesive and grounded together. And finally I made sure the colors on the coffee table were speaking to colors already living elsewhere in my living room so the whole space feels connected rather than random. Scale, proportion, balance, texture, color, all of it on one small surface. That is what separates a styled coffee table from one that just has stuff on it.
