My primary bedroom had a problem that was driving my symmetrical heart absolutely crazy. 😩 The window on the wall where my bed sits is NOT centered, which means if I centered my headboard on the wall the way most people would, the whole thing looked completely off from the window. Wrong... not happening.
So here is what I did instead. I centered the bed on the window (not the wall) and then dealt with the uneven space on each side creatively. On the side with less drywall I used the smaller nesting tables, and on the side with more drywall I used the larger nesting table. Same style, same finish, different scale, and the result is a perfectly symmetrical first impression when you walk into that room. 🙌 Your eye reads the bed, the tables, the window as one balanced intentional moment and never once notices the wall is off center. That is the power of working with what you have instead of fighting against it.
