Human remains believed to be from the Viking Age were rediscovered in Denmark after being missing for more than a century. The box containing the bones was found in a basement beneath the National Museum of Denmark in 2021.
Scientific analysis indicates that the remains belong to the individual buried in the famous Mammen grave, dated to around 970–971 AD. The Mammen burial is one of the most important Viking Age finds in Denmark, known for its richly decorated objects and connections to elite Viking society during the late 10th century.
