Description
David Kuckhermann is a Grammy‑nominated percussionist and internationally renowned handpan and frame drum specialist based in Berlin. For Tonalic, he recorded numerous performances that are part of the Tonalic Library.
In this video, David explores his calabash, one of the simplest percussion instruments, made from a dried gourd traditionally used in Africa for carrying water, cooking, and instrument building. In its pure form, it becomes a standalone drum that produces surprisingly electronic-sounding, drum kit-like tones when played on the floor or even used as a water drum.

Tonalic feels like having a musician by your side.
No AI, no loops, no MIDI. Just a musician playing along to every chord, every tempo, every groove. Effortlessly.
The result? Authentic guitar, bass, and drum tracks in your song – with the sound, the emotion, and all the performance magic that happens between the notes.
From Celemony, the creators of Melodyne. Played by world-class studio musicians. Driven by your song.
Tonalic – a musician by your side
