David Kuckhermann is a Grammy‑nominated percussionist and internationally renowned handpan and frame drum specialist based in Berlin. For Tonalic, he recorded numerous performances that are part of the Tonalic Library.
In this video, David presents a custom bass cajon made by Spanish builder Pepote, designed with a deep, kick-drum-like low end that fits easily into many musical styles. He also demonstrates how detachable accessories like jingles and a cabasa (from Schlagwerk) can be added via Velcro, turning the cajon into a versatile “rhythm machine” that blends drum kit textures with Middle Eastern-inspired colors.
