Long before modern upscaling techniques and massive single die chips took over, graphics card manufacturers were pulling off some absolutely wild engineering tricks to chase maximum performance. The iconic AMD Radeon HD 6990 stands out as a prime example of that era, packing two full graphics processors onto a single massive printed circuit board.
Running two GPUs side by side meant insane power draw, massive heat output, and a fan that sounded like a jet engine under load. However, back when CrossFire support was actually integrated into major game releases, putting a dual processor monster like this into your system delivered unmatched frame rates for extreme enthusiast setups.
As game engines shifted and multi GPU driver support slowly faded away, these dual core behemoths disappeared from store shelves for good. Did you ever own a dual processor graphics card back in the day, or did you stick with standard single GPU setups?
