But the books had been around for so long, and so many different generations of actors had passed by, that almost all of those fancastings were fated to be wrong. But there was one fancasting, after the release of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, that caught a lot of buzz... and for Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy, it actually came true.
