The Tower of Babel Wasn't Really About the Tower | Ep. 3

CIRA International Podcast 12 days ago

Description

Why did God confuse humanity's language and scatter people across the earth? Was the Tower of Babel really about building a tower—or was something much bigger happening?

Join Al Fadi for Episode 3 of The Will of God for Humanity as we continue exploring God's original purpose for mankind and the consequences of humanity's rebellion.

In our previous episodes, we examined God's command in Genesis 1:28 to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. We also explored the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve's disobedience, and how sin disrupted God's original design for humanity.

Now we turn to Genesis 11 and the Tower of Babel.

Scripture tells us that humanity once shared a common language. As people migrated, they settled in the land of Shinar and decided to build a city and a tower that would make a name for themselves.

But their intentions went directly against God's original command.

Rather than spreading throughout the earth, the people wanted to remain together and establish their own greatness.

Why was this such a significant act of rebellion?

Al Fadi explains that God's desire was for humanity to multiply, fill the earth, and spread the knowledge of their Creator throughout the world.

Yet humanity chose a different path.

In Genesis 11:8–9, God responds by confusing their language and scattering them across the face of the earth.

What humanity refused to do voluntarily, God brought about through His intervention.

In this episode, we explore:
- God's original command to fill the earth
- How Adam and Eve's fall affected humanity's purpose
- Why the people settled in the land of Shinar
- The real motivation behind building the Tower of Babel
- Why God confused humanity's language
- The significance of scattering the nations
- God's desire for all people to know Him
- How the Tower of Babel connects to the Christian mission of spreading the Gospel
But the story doesn't end with Babel.

God's desire for humanity to know Him remains central to His redemptive plan.

Al Fadi reminds us that God is present everywhere, but not everyone knows Him. This is why Christians are called to go into the world, proclaim the Gospel, and make God's truth known among the nations.

The Tower of Babel reminds us what happens when humanity pursues its own glory instead of God's purpose.

Are we living according to God's original calling—or are we still building our own towers?
