The Inspector Showed Up AFTER We Poured the Concrete...

Description

We thought the hard part was over — then the inspector showed up.

On this San Clemente, California project, we're lowering an extremely steep driveway and replacing part of a damaged garage floor that had sunk several inches.

Once we started demolition, we found the real problem underneath: saturated clay and groundwater collecting below the garage floor. That meant rebuilding the base, adding multiple layers of moisture protection, installing fiberglass rebar, and giving the water somewhere to go before pouring the new concrete.

After getting the garage floor and city approach poured, we came back to start preparing the rest of the driveway — and that's when the Public Works inspector unexpectedly showed up.

See how the inspection went, how the new concrete turned out, and another problem we discovered with the levels before the next pour.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where we pour the decorative concrete driveway and finish this transformation.
