The Best iPhone Duo Apps to Try: https://youtu.be/lB3rCQQA6Mg
The best iPhone Duo games give you a reason to fold, tilt, and actually move the phone in your hands. I’ve been testing games optimized for Apple’s foldable iPhone, and this is my day-one list: 18 games plus the Delta 2.0 emulator, covering adventures, puzzles, retro gaming, tabletop strategy, and a surprisingly convincing excuse to turn your phone into a sandwich press.
Some of the most interesting ideas make the fold part of the controls. Orisuji changes the route through a paper maze when you close and reopen the Duo. Marbles Unhinged lets you bend the board while guiding a marble toward its goal, and Porta Nubi uses opening and closing to move you through its cloud-filled puzzle world. These are games where what you do with the hardware changes what happens on the screen.
There’s plenty here for longer gaming sessions, too. Planet of Lana pairs a beautiful hand-painted world with puzzles built around Lana and her companion, Mui, while Ungodly brings real-time combat and a team of heroes to develop. For retro gaming on iPhone Duo, Delta 2.0 adapts its controller layouts to the phone’s different positions and supports keeping a walkthrough beside your game. I also cover Ultimate Lemmings, an unofficial fan project with touch controls, rewind, and precision zoom.
If you’ve looked at a half-open Duo and thought it should be a tiny Battleship board, several developers had the same idea. Torpedo Sea Battle, Battlefleet Duo, and Knotty Navy each put their own spin on hunting an opponent’s fleet. Shut the Fold turns closing, shaking, and reopening the phone into a dice roll, while Sapper Infinite Minesweeper gives you an expanding board that continues on the cover screen when you fold the phone shut.
The stranger picks are worth a look as well. Duometry challenges you to guess a hinge angle, Stare Master waits for you to blink, and PianoFold brings a classical-music rhythm game to the lineup. Then there’s Toastie: butter the virtual bread, add your fillings, and close the Duo to toast a sandwich. Open it to check whether lunch is ready or heading toward charcoal. It’s ridiculous, and it makes a lot of sense on this phone.
