iPhone Duo Review: https://youtu.be/1q2oMoNPbDQ
Your iPhone Duo can open like a notebook, close to start an album, and give your everyday apps room to breathe. I’ve been testing a ridiculous amount of apps, and this guide covers 25 to explore on day one, from clever uses of the fold to tools for the things you do every day.

I walk through what each featured app does, where the Duo layouts make a difference, and which features come free or need a paid upgrade. Here’s what’s in the video:

Productivity: TypeDraw turns the Duo into a notebook for words and finger sketches, complete with paper styles and a font you can draw yourself. Daylish plans the getting-ready and travel time around your appointments, with a half-open view of what’s happening now and what’s next. Submanager brings subscriptions, renewal reminders, and spending totals into one place, with side-by-side layouts when you unfold.

Music and audio: Deck-Man turns albums into virtual cassettes, with playback that starts when you close the Duo and stops when you open it. Overcast brings Smart Speed, Voice Boost, and searchable podcast transcripts, though I also share why it’s been frustrating for me lately. My Vinyl+ connects to Discogs to organize your records, scan barcodes, and answer the record-shop question, “Do I already own this?”

Photography and creativity: Obscura Pro Camera gives you manual camera controls, focus peaking, and an outer-display toggle. Afterlight helps shape the look of your photos with film-inspired presets, curves, grain, and reusable filter combinations. Swatch This sends you looking for specific colors in the world around you. HEVCut makes smaller copies of photos and videos to help recover storage, with comparisons to check before you delete anything irreplaceable.

Health and fitness: Calorific starts a food log from a photo, then lets you review and adjust the nutrition estimates, with meals and totals arranged around the fold. Gentler Streak puts training load and recovery in context, so a rest day can be part of staying consistent.

Entertainment: Sofa gives your backlog of recommendations a home, with lists beside selected items and podcast transcripts on the upright screen in laptop position. Callsheet helps you place a familiar actor, explore cast and crew, and check streaming availability, with spoiler controls and no ads or autoplay videos getting in the way.

Reading: NetNewsWire collects your chosen sites and blogs into a free, open-source RSS reader. LookUp combines dictionary definitions with illustrated words of the day, vocabulary collections, and ways to look up words while you’re reading.

Travel: Flighty keeps gate alerts, flight progress, and airport details together, with incoming-aircraft tracking and delay predictions in Pro. Scratchbook turns national-park visits into illustrated badges, photos, field notes, and wildlife memories. It’s beautiful enough to have me thinking about which park to visit next.

Social: I cover the Duo-optimized updates for Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Meta’s Muse AI Agent app. Blab takes a different approach, using daily challenges and topic worlds to give you a starting point for a conversation, plus check-in cards for books, films, albums, and places.

Outdoors: Weather 360 pairs an animated forecast with guidance on when to go running, cycling, gardening, or stargazing. Sky Guide expands your view of the night sky when you unfold, helping you identify stars, planets, constellations, and satellites, with offline support for exploring away from a cell signal.
