I am back at the beaver dam that I have been watching over the years. It seems that the dam washed out at the tail end of last winter so the water level is low and I can take a look at the coppicing that the beaver are doing and how it creates a bit of a garden or farm of fresh branches that they can use as a food source. I also am finding a few deep channels that have formed as the water is rushing through the soft sediment soils that have built up behind the dam over the years.
It is always fun to see what the beaver are up to. We are far from the only intelligent creatures that wander this earth.
