The 75mm Sherman gun couldn't punch through Tiger armor, forcing the British to engineer the Firefly variant with a powerful 17-pounder gun. Armed with extended turrets and heavier suspensions, these upgraded Shermans finally matched German heavy tanks in firepower. The Easy 8 followed with its own 76mm upgrade—but crews often ignored the gyro stabilizer system designed to keep guns level on rough terrain. Sometimes the best technology requires proper training to work.
