Nghiêm Nguyễn is a resilient Vietnamese immigrant whose life spans decades of historical upheaval and cultural transformation. Born in Mỹ Tho, Vietnam, she spent her early years witnessing dramatic events—such as the Japanese coup against the French during the final years of colonial rule—and the profound impact of the Việt Minh movement. Her childhood was marked by fear and loss, particularly after her father, who had participated in the movement, left and was never seen again. Raised in a family rooted in Protestant faith, she absorbed values of sacrifice and community support early on. After completing high school in Vietnam, she emigrated—first to France and later to the United States—where she built a new life while maintaining strong ties to her cultural and religious heritage. As a devoted wife to Pastor Nguyễn Đình Di and a mother of seven children, Nghiêm Nguyễn has dedicated herself to social activism and community service. Over the years, she has been actively involved in initiatives supporting Vietnamese refugees, political prisoners, and mixed-race children, establishing programs and a church that serve as beacons of hope and cultural pride.
