Justice for Formosa's Victims presents RED SEA: Vietnam's Modern Disaster

This is a trailer for the pending production of a documentary film called “Red Sea: Vietnam’s Modern Disaster.” The film will be directed by independent filmmaker and exiled Vietnamese activist Thuc Pham and produced by writer and award-winning producer Nancy Bui. The film will begin with portraits of Vietnamese activists who organized public protests and helped victims file a lawsuit against the company, demanding fair compensation and clean-up of polluted areas. Many of these activists were later jailed. The film will also expand beyond Vietnam, sharing the experiences of victims and activists from Formosa-affected communities in Texas, Louisiana, China, and Taiwan.

Justice for Formosa’s Victims (JfFV) is a non-profit organization based in Louisiana whose mission is to support and advocate for victims of the 2016 Formosa Plastics Corporation marine toxic spill along the central coast of Vietnam. They coordinate ocean clean-up programs, document the evidence of industrial pollution and worker intimidation tactics, support legal efforts to release imprisoned activists, seek financial compensation for victims, promote awareness through advocacy media pieces and film footage, and organize peaceful public protests at plant sites in Taiwan, China, Vietnam and the United States.
