BIG news for California drivers, and I’ve got some pretty big news of my own. I’M GOING TO SEMA!
Governor Gavin Newsom just took action aimed at bringing some relief to California gas prices. California is allowing winter-blend gasoline to enter the market early by suspending the state’s seasonal summer-blend requirement for the remainder of the season.
Why does that matter?
Winter-blend gasoline is generally cheaper to produce, and allowing it into California early could increase available fuel supplies and help put downward pressure on prices at the pump. That doesn’t mean gas prices magically drop overnight, but it gives California another tool to try to bring costs down.
In this video, I break down what Newsom actually did, why California normally switches between summer and winter gasoline, and what this could mean the next time you pull into a gas station.
