One of the things I get asked to share the most by far, is how to get started with a creative project, and especially with writing. So let me just get through what I think are the basic few things we can do, to get over that initial fear of getting started, you know the imposter syndrome, the doubts, the unsureness of where and how to begin. Honestly these things I’ll talk about in this video will likely be applicable to more or less any type of art making or creative production, but for the sake of, you know, leaning into my own expertise, I’ll use writing a novel as an example, but yes, I do think this would work for music, photography, videography, painting, or wood carving, or cooking or whatever creative nerve you happen to be born with. I’ve divided these ideas into 3 categories: Before writing, Preparatory writing, and Drafting.
