Mongolia’s state-owned national airline flies a 787 Dreamliner to a single destination in Europe, Frankfurt! MIAT bought the aircraft from a small Chinese airline who couldn't afford to pay the leases, and it's helped connect Mongolia to the world.
MIAT offers an exceptional Business Class product in a 1-2-1 reverse-herringbone layout & cozy mood lighting. The food selection was surprisingly limited to chicken or beef, and no menus were provided. The airline has had an interesting history since being founded in 1956. They were known for a poor safety record until the 2000's when MIAT modernized and became a modern airline, flying 737, 767, 787, & CRJ aircraft. One day it hopes to turn Ulaanbaatar Airport into a significant Asian transit hub, taking advantage of Mongolia's central location.
