The film follows Meera Achrekar (Mandira Bedi), an eccentric, passionate mathematics teacher living in a bustling Shivaji Park chawl in Mumbai. While her widowed mother (Vandana Gupte) and protective elder brother Manoj (Mahesh Manjrekar) are desperately trying to find a suitable groom for her, Meera has a massive disadvantage in the marriage market—she is utterly, wildly obsessed with cricket! When she isn't teaching, she is busy heading the local 'Meera XI' cricket team and glued to the TV screen tracking every single match.
Her life takes a glamorous turn when she accidentally crosses paths with a handsome heart specialist, Dr. Arjun Awasthi (Eijaz Khan). Arjun, who lives in a sprawling mansion with his eccentric dentist father (Anupam Kher), falls deeply in love with Meera's quirks. The two families meet, sparks fly, and a grand formal engagement is immediately planned. However, on the biggest day of her life, a massive, high-stakes cricket match is broadcast.
