Amid concerns over rainfall shortages and possible El Nino impact, Government Whip Vijaya Ramana Rao advised farmers to focus on dryland and alternative crops instead of depending only on paddy cultivation.

During the foundation stone ceremony for a Basthi Dawakhana in Sultanabad, Peddapalli district, he explained the possible challenges caused by El Nino conditions to farmers who gathered at the event. He suggested farmers consider crops such as pulses and oil palm as alternatives to paddy.

The advisory comes as farmers across regions are being encouraged to adopt climate-resilient farming practices and choose crops that require less water during uncertain weather conditions.
