Description
Arturia’s MiniFreak 49 is a new expanded model of one of my favourite hardware synthesizers of recent years. Arriving in late 2022, the original MiniFreak was a 6-voice hybrid polysynth that combined two digital oscillator engines with an analogue multimode filter, VCA and flexible, three-slot digital effects engine.
MiniFreak 49 is, essentially, that same synthesis engine in a bigger box with a better keyboard and an improved control surface.
But does bigger mean better? In this video we explore three highlights from this enhanced MiniFreak – and one potential downside.
For more information on the new features we haven't dug into here – including the Freak Control modes, Stereo Spread and more on the XYZ pad – plus our full verdict, read the full review on MusicRadar: https://www.musicradar.com/music-tech/hybrid-synths/one-of-my-favourite-synths-just-got-a-little-bit-better-who-could-complain-about-that-arturia-minifreak-49-review#viafoura-comments
