The LAVA STUDIO is a desktop amp with a 13.3 inch full HD touchscreen built right into the front. No banks of knobs, no tiny LCD screens, everything happens on the screen. It's basically a tablet fused to a proper 40 watt 2.1 speaker system, and it sounds way bigger than it looks.
The recent lavaOS update is what really changed the game here. You now get native NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) support, Tone 3000 built straight into the touchscreen with access to over 25,000 real amp and pedal captures, plus a custom IR loader. That means you can browse rare vintage amps, boutique gear and famous tones captured by people who actually own them, tap one, and be playing it seconds later. No computer, no cables, no fiddling with files.
In this review I walk through the whole thing: building presets, Tone3000 Amps, the improv jam tracks, the looper, the mini DAW, AI stem splitting, and my honest thoughts on who this amp is actually for. I also cover the caveats you should know before buying, because no product is perfect.
