Can bent oak create a floating chair?
In this video, I build a one-of-a-kind suspended lounge chair using bent oak beams and handcrafted maple slats. The design creates the illusion of a floating chair while remaining strong, comfortable, and fully functional.
This project took me 4 full days to complete. From bending the oak, shaping the curved structure, fitting every maple piece, and assembling the final chair, I documented the entire woodworking process from start to finish.
The goal was to create a modern lounge chair that combines traditional woodworking techniques with a unique sculptural design. The result is a gravity-defying chair that looks almost impossible until you sit in it.
