How to make door Solid Door made out Oak.
Welcome back!
In this video, I show you how to make a solid wood interior door using basic tools and standard hardware dimensions.
Before anyone says that a panel saw or a drum sander isn’t a “basic tool” — let me clarify. I previously built the same door design from beech wood using only three power tools:
• A handheld router with a jig
• A small Bosch table saw
• A small orbital sander
It required more preparation and time, but I can honestly say that you can build a door that will last a lifetime with just these tools.
The door shown in this video is made from solid oak and joined using floating tenon joinery. The construction follows a classic stiles-and-rails design with three panels in the center. I chose a simple, traditional look to match the space where the door is installed — a wine-cellar–style room with a rustic feel, featuring a wooden ceiling I previously built and stone walls.
For hardware, I used AGB concealed hinges, which are reliable and easy to install.
For glue-up, I used PU wood glue, ideal for this type of joinery because it expands and fills minor gaps.
The finish is a water-based acrylic varnish — easy to apply, fast drying, and completely odor-free. To save on lumber, I made the door jambs from segmented pieces, glued into a C-shaped profile.
Total build time was around four days.
