Video Transcript:
Step 1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, scroll down, and tap "General."

Step 2. Tap "Keyboard" in the general settings menu.

Step 3. Tap "Text Replacement" near the top of the screen. You will see a list of any text replacements currently configured on your device.

Step 4. Tap the plus sign icon in the top right corner of the screen to open a new replacement template.

Step 5. Type the full word, phrase, email, or sentence you want to create a shortcut for into the Phrase field.

Step 6. Type the short abbreviation you want to use into the Shortcut field. Just make sure to choose a combination of letters that you do not regularly type as a normal word, otherwise your phone will constantly expand it when you do not want it to.

Step 7. Tap "Save" in the top right corner of the screen when you are finished. Your new text replacement rule is active immediately.

To use it, simply open any app where you can type, like Messages or Notes, type your shortcut letters, and then press the spacebar. Your iPhone or iPad will instantly swap the shortcut out for your saved phrase.

If you use multiple Apple devices, like a Mac computer or an Apple Watch, you do not need to repeat these steps on every single device. As long as you are signed into the same iCloud account on all of your devices, your custom text replacement shortcuts will automatically sync across your entire Apple ecosystem. If you ever want to delete a shortcut you no longer use, just go back to the Text Replacement menu, swipe left across the specific shortcut you want to remove, and tap the red delete button.
