Description
After sleeping in our RV bed on multiple trips over a couple years time, I mentioned to my wife that I felt like the head of our bed was lower than the foot. My wife agreed, so I decided to remove the mattress and put a four foot level on the frame to see if we were correct. The bed was definitely not level, the head was actually an inch lower than the foot of the bed. I thought about this situation and what would be the best way to correct it. I decided that ripping a few strips, placing the thickest part at the head of the bed, would work. I also decided that this along with an additional piece of plywood would be plenty to support the weight of the mattress and two people sleeping on it. This was a simple, inexpensive modification that did exactly what I wanted and worked great. However, after testing a couple scrap 2x12 boards under the mattress at the head of the bed, in addition the the modification, my wife and I both loved the increased elevation, it was very comfortable and we slept better.
