Honda Wants More Money For An Old Minivan in 2027, Should You? Review
2027 Honda Odyssey Touring Review 🇨🇦🇺🇸 | What's New? Price, V6 Specs & Fuel Economy
Is the 2027 Honda Odyssey still worth buying? In this review, we're testing the Canadian-market Honda Odyssey Touring and breaking down the changes for 2027, comparing Canadian and American models, pricing, interior features, engine specifications and fuel economy.
Honda continues to offer a naturally aspirated V6 and a traditional 10-speed automatic, but competitors like the Toyota Sienna offer hybrid technology and available all-wheel drive. Is Honda falling behind, or is the Odyssey still one of the best family minivans you can buy?
🇨🇦 CANADA: 2027 HONDA ODYSSEY
The Canadian lineup includes Sport, Sport-L, Touring and Black Edition.
Our test vehicle is the Odyssey Touring, featuring leather and leatherette seating with piping, ventilated front seats, a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch rear entertainment screen, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, wireless phone charging, premium audio and Magic Slide second-row seats.
The 2027 model carries forward the current generation rather than introducing a completely redesigned interior. Honda's more substantial recent styling and equipment updates arrived for 2026.
Canadian MSRP increased by approximately $1,000 across the lineup for 2027. The 2026 Touring was listed at $63,073, including the listed delivery and other fees, before tax. Confirm the latest 2027 price with Honda Canada, as final costs depend on trim, fees and dealer charges.
🇺🇸 UNITED STATES: 2027 HONDA ODYSSEY
The U.S. lineup includes EX-L, Sport, Touring and Elite.
2026 vs. 2027 U.S. MSRP:
• EX-L: $42,795 → $43,195
• Sport-L/Sport: $43,895 → $44,295
• Touring: $47,495 → $47,895
• Elite: $51,695 → $52,095
MSRP increased by $400 per trim. The destination charge also rose from $1,495 to $1,595, making the increase $500 when destination is included. Taxes, registration and optional equipment are extra.
Canadian and American trim names do not guarantee identical equipment. The Canadian Touring is not an exact equivalent of the U.S. Touring or Elite.
INTERIOR CHANGES & LEATHER
The Odyssey's family-friendly interior remains one of its strongest selling points. Features include Magic Slide second-row seats, a folding third row, tri-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, CabinWatch and CabinTalk.
For 2027, U.S. specifications list HondaTex-trimmed seats on EX-L and Sport, leather-trimmed seats on Touring, and perforated leather-trimmed seats on Elite. The U.S. Touring's seat description also differs from the 2026 wording regarding piping. This is a specification-description difference, not confirmed proof of a physical upholstery downgrade.
The Canadian Touring is described as having leather and leatherette seats with piping. A corresponding material change for Canada's 2027 Touring has not been confirmed.
⚙️ ENGINE & PERFORMANCE

• Horsepower: 280 hp
• Torque: 262 lb-ft
• Transmission: 10-speed automatic
• Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive only
• Fuel: Regular unleaded gasoline
• Maximum towing capacity: 3,500 lb when properly equipped

⛽ FUEL ECONOMY: HONDA VS. TOYOTA
U.S. EPA ratings for the Odyssey:
• City: 19 MPG
• Highway: 28 MPG
• Combined: 22 MPG
2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrid:
• FWD: 36 MPG combined
• AWD: 35 MPG combined
The Sienna FWD delivers approximately 64% more miles per gallon than the Odyssey based on combined ratings, using roughly 39% less fuel over the same distance.
Canadian combined ratings:
• Honda Odyssey: 10.6 L/100 km
• Toyota Sienna Hybrid FWD: 6.6 L/100 km
• Toyota Sienna Hybrid AWD: 6.8 L/100 km
At 20,000 km annually, those ratings work out to approximately 2,120 litres per year for the Odyssey versus 1,320 litres for the Sienna FWD. Actual fuel consumption varies with driving conditions, temperature and speed.
The Honda offers more horsepower and a conventional automatic transmission. The Toyota offers significantly better rated fuel economy and available AWD.
WHY IS IT CALLED BLACK EDITION?
The Canadian Black Edition is an appearance and equipment package, not a performance upgrade. It features 19-inch black wheels, red ambient lighting, distinctive seat piping and floor mats, wireless charging, CabinWatch and a hands-free power tailgate with programmable height. It uses the same 280-hp V6 as other Odyssey trims.
