Description
Halloween is getting more expensive every year, but instead of focusing on today's price tags, I thought we'd spend some time flipping through a collection of rare and forgotten Halloween catalogs from the 1960s through the early 2000s. These aren't just old advertisements, they're little time capsules packed with Halloween decorations, horror collectibles, party supplies, costumes, masks, and spooky treasures that many Halloween enthusiasts haven't seen in decades.
We'll browse vintage catalogs from Oriental Trading, The Paper Magic Group, Lemax Spooky Town, Halloween Outlet, Illusive Concepts, Inc., Collegeville, and more, stopping to admire everything from classic blow molds and paper decorations to animatronics, Halloween haunt props, and some bizarre Halloween products that most people don't even know existed.
There are also plenty of huge nostalgic surprises along the way, including vintage Goosebumps collectibles, Tales from the Crypt, Universal Monsters, Elvira, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Michael Myers, and so many forgotten pieces of horror merch that perfectly capture what spooky season used to feel like.
Mostly, though, this is just an excuse to slow down and enjoy Summerween together. We'll reminisce about the excitement of old-school Code Orange, talk about Halloween memories, appreciate the artistry of vintage Halloween, and revisit a time when decorating for the season just felt different. And if you've been feeling bummed after looking at the new Michaels Halloween Haunted Spirits line and wondering why Halloween decor has become so expensive, maybe these old catalogs will remind you why so many of us fell in love with Halloween in the first place.
So grab your favorite fall drink, get comfortable, and let's spend some time exploring these forgotten pages of Halloween history.

► ABOUT
Hi creeps! My name is Cameron Chaney. I’m a horror author (check out my books above!) and the host of Library Macabre, a horror-focused BookTube channel dedicated to horror book reviews, vintage horror paperbacks, and all things spooky. On this channel, I talk about everything from classic and retro horror books (including 70s, 80s, and 90s horror paperbacks) to modern horror, indie horror, and mainstream horror releases. If you love creepy reads, obscure horror novels, and nostalgic book content, you’re in the right place.
Not strictly a horror fan? No worries! I also feature other genres, book hauls, and nostalgic reads from time to time. I’m a huge fan of book collecting, especially rare and out-of-print horror paperbacks. You’ll also find the occasional horror movie review with my Cult Movie Macabre series, Halloween content, book and movie unboxings, and anything else that fits those cozy, eerie vibes. If it’s spooky, nostalgic, or bookish… I’m here for it. :-)
