Giant Beetle Feeds on My Venus Flytraps Until They Snap | 4K Macro

Description

A giant longhorn beetle climbs across my Venus flytraps, feeding around the trap edges and drinking nectar while setting off trap after trap, pushing the limits of my carnivorous plants.

This turned into one of the most unpredictable beetle encounters I have filmed. The beetle moves between several Venus flytrap plants, from larger traps to smaller plants, triggering close calls as it explores the leaves in 4K macro.

I also include a look back at other beetles that have been caught by my flytraps before, showing how much the size and behaviour of the insect can change the outcome.

After the beetle sets off too many traps, I carefully remove it from the plant and return it outside to our wildflower meadow, where it carries on feeding on a flower. The video finishes with a timelapse of the Venus flytrap traps slowly opening back up.
