A large earwig ends up on my Cape Sundew, and this becomes one of the strongest insects I have filmed on the sticky Drosera tentacles.
I film the encounter in extreme macro as the earwig moves across the sundew, with the tentacles slowly closing in around it. The video includes several timelapses showing the plant reaction over time, as the sundew tries to hold onto an insect with powerful legs, pincers and a very determined escape instinct.
Despite the sticky trap and the slow movement of the sundew leaf, the earwig eventually proves too strong, so I carefully set it free at the end of the video.
