Ingredients
Onion: 4 (1kg)
Butter: 2 Tbsp
Olive Oil: 1 Tbsp
Salt: 0.5 tsp
Flour: 1 Tbsp
White Wine: 200mL
Beef Stock: 1L
Thyme: 1 Bunch
Toasted Baguette: 7 Slices
Gruyere Cheese: Handful
It's been quite cold lately where I live and it's the perfect to time to make some French onion soup. There's a hidden ingredient to every good French onion soup and that is time. You can't rush caramelising the onions as that's where all the flavour comes from.
