The story centers on Adil Khan (Arjun Rampal), a highly decorated, upright IPS officer who is appointed as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Nandighat—a region heavily infested by Naxalites. Following a brutal ambush that claims the lives of 84 security personnel, Adil is desperate to restore order. Seeing his friend’s frustration, Kabir (Abhay Deol), a wild and rebellious free spirit, proposes a highly dangerous plan: he will infiltrate the Maoist group led by the fierce commander Rajan (Manoj Bajpayee) and act as Adil’s secret police informant. Adil reluctantly agrees, and Kabir successfully gains the trust of the rebels.
Using Kabir's precise, inside intelligence, the police launch massive, successful operations, capturing Rajan and dealing heavy blows to the network. However, the plan goes haywire when Kabir spends time living among the displaced tribal villagers. Witnessing firsthand the systemic neglect, corporate greed, and police brutality faced by the locals, Kabir’s conscience shatters.
