Building a New Dam for the Pond with a 1970's Caterpillar Dozer ~ Hopefully it Holds WATER!

The time has come to build the ALL important Dam for the new pond at the Farm! This step is extremely CRUCIAL because it will determine how successful this pond build will be and if it will hold water for decades to come or if it will fail and wash out!

Great thing about the clay we are using is that it is PERFECT for pond building and it packs EXTREMELY hard! The other awesome part about the clay is that we are getting it out of the side and bottom of the pond, so the material doesn't have to move very far to get to where we need it!

Only thing we need to do it DIG it OUT, and that's where Alester, our 1970 Caterpillar D3 comes in! Will it be able to handle the TOUGH clay we are digging through, or will it be too much for such a small dozer!

Let's find out together!

Thanks for following along on the recovery and revival of this old dozer, as well as our testing of this old tractor up here at the farm! I truly appreciate you watching and being a part of this project!Your support means the world to me, and I truly hope you enjoy!

This is my 1970's Caterpillar D3 LGP Bulldozer named "Alester"... It has a 6 way blade, wide tracks, and is powered by a Caterpillar 3204 diesel engine. The machine is in fairly good shape considering it's lack of care over the last decade and a half, but it does have some major issues that we're working through one step at a time!
