Description
I did this in prior installments of the Octopath trilogy, and I am back once more to show these NPCs who's boss. Unlike when I had to rely on the full version of the game, however, I saw an early win conition using just what we have on hand with the demo.
The core of my team is Viator and Celsus spamming Parry and Sidestep to avoid all physical moves. As long as I have enough SP, they cannot ever be hi. Evasion tanking, just like Sidestep Transfer Rune Tressa is crucial.
In the backrow, I had the main character as a Hunter, with all skills and abilities unlocked. Every turn, he''ll shoot off one free arrow, and in turns where Viator's Parry is high, he can simply launch a quintuple barrage. Two up front, two at the end of the turn, plus one from his ability.
At the start of the battle, I perform a series of swaps back and forth in order to get max SP on my units. Share SP is something that can be daisy chained to absurdity, and I have done so in Octopath 1 before. Macy passes SP MAX to Stia. Stia passes back to Macy. The cycle repeats before capping Viator and Celsus.
Stia is also generally helpful as she can regenerate SP in the backrow to give my protgaonist SP, and she can even donate BP in case Celsus or Viator are low in evades. I found myself sacrificing and raising Stia in exchange for doing a Parry or Sidestep MAX. Something else of note is that Celsus slowly gains extra physical evades due to one of his passive abilities too. All of these things combined make for a long, yet straightforward fight if you know what to do, with some plum usage to expedite the SP battery setup.
The reward for winning this slugfest is the Battle-Tested Axe. I recall using it in endgame in the prior games of the trilogy. It's just plain incredible, especially for a freaking demo.
Note: I hacked the game demo timer as before. I also hacked the JP, gold leaves, and EXP gain counts for the party. I kept everyone under lv60, the level at which the NPCs are, but the lack of endgame equipment is a big hurdle here too.
I posted this about 7 years before this upload, and it was how I got my resources to last the fight.
