After more than 50 years, humanity is finally returning to the Moon. While I was born just a year after the last Apollo mission and missed the first landings, I now have the chance to witness our return. Artemis II took four humans back to our lunar neighbor, and this video showcases the best images of that journey in stunning 4K.
The mission spans an unimaginable distance, bringing humans far enough away to see the entire Earth with their own eyes for the first time in half a century. To those who argue we should solve all problems on Earth before heading into space: if our ancestors had thought that way, we would have never moved forward. The entire Artemis program costs the average citizen of the US about 6 cents a day, the price of a piece of gum per week, to inspire a generation and redefine the limits of science, medicine, and technology. Contrast that with other expenses no one complains about. From the distance of the Moon, the conflicts we fight down here seem entirely unnecessary. This is the "Overview Effect," a perspective we need now more than ever. Experience the mission, the scale, and the fragile beauty of our home planet in this 4K cinematic tribute to Artemis II and Apollo.
