Description
Expertise Surge, Optimization Surge, Overdrives, global events: The Division 2 has a lot of events, and they're easy to mix up. Here's every event explained, up to date for November 2026: what each surge doubles, how optimizing works, every XP event, the four Overdrives and how global events pay out.
Quick reference:
• Surges double what drops while they run, not what you already have. Farm while it's live, spend later.
• Expertise Surge: crafting materials (steel, ceramics, polycarbonate, titanium, carbon fiber, electronics) + exotic components.
• Optimization Surge: alloys, weaves and tactical assessments. Both surges also double SHD Calibration and Field Recon Data.
• Dark Zone Surge: 2x DZ credits, 3x DZ XP, and no XP loss on death until you hit the level cap.
• Ammo Surge: 3x specialization ammo, 2x special ammo (incendiary, explosive).
• SHD XP Boost: usually 3x, rarely 5x, up to 1,000 SHD levels per event. On a maxed watch every SHD point can be claimed as materials.
• Overdrives: Tech (skills), Redline (crits), Deadeye (precision + headshots), Vanguard (staying on the move). PvE only, they're off in Conflict.
• Global events: daily challenges over 4 days earn stars. Spend them at the season vendor before the event ends, leftover stars are lost.
