For 32 years, the Northwest Automotive Press Association has pushed SUVs and pickups far beyond grocery store parking lots. Welcome to Mudfest 2026 — where 18 automotive journalists test 18 new vehicles on pavement, dirt, rocks, mud, steep climbs and tough forest-service-road terrain at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington.
This year’s field includes everything from the all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 Woodland and Subaru Outback Wilderness to luxury entries like the Genesis GV80 Coupe and Lucid Gravity Grand Touring. EVs, hybrids, rugged family crossovers and hardcore off-roaders all compete head-to-head.
