The Windmere branded, Paragon manufactured, BF-1001 10" Slim Line Deluxe 3 Speed Box Fan - one of the absolute worst fans I've ever tested.
This unit takes poor performance to a whole new level. The air stream is so weak that it cannot be felt to a useable degree more than a few inches away from the fan. Despite the limited air flow, there's plenty of noise to go along with it, and it gets rather unpleasant sounding on the higher speeds.
The issue with the unit resides completely within the guards. The blade works just fine when removed from the cage, in fact it pushes quite a good amount of air with little noise in a free-air environment.
This is another one of those products that leaves more questions than answers. I cannot fathom how this passed the R&D phase at Paragon, and how it passed final sales inspection. I also cannot fathom how anyone bought this, set it up to use it for the first time, and became satisfied with it's operation. It's completely unsatisfactory in all respects.
