This is one of the worst fans I've ever tested -- the Honeywell QuietSet HTF210BD1 Slim Tower Fan with Oscillation.
I've heard many good things about Honeywell QuietSet fans. I've had a few other models pass through my shop over the years and they were all decent. I find Honeywell fans to generally be decent overall, very few I've tested were no good. Unfortunately, this is one breaks the trend.
This is one of the dumbest designs of fans I've ever seen. This thing is over a foot tall, yet there's nothing more than a little 12V computer style fan installed in the middle. The air stream is only 2-3 inches wide, and remains that as the air travels from the fan. It's very ineffective, even when sitting directly in front of it as it only puts a slight breeze over a small part of your person.
In addition to the ineffectiveness, it's extremely loud for the size. Other desk fans such as the Lasko 2002w are significantly quieter while being many times over more effective. Even the lowest setting on this is disruptive in a quiet environment, and the sound it makes is not particularly pleasant.
I looked for product reviews on this unit and found it highly rated, which is absolutely baffling to me. I don't see how anyone could spend over $35 on this unit and find it useful and a good value.
