Where is the most isolated point? One of the scariest things for many people would be getting stuck in the middle of a vast ocean, but what if there was nothing but deep water for over 1,670 miles, or 2,688 kilometers? Well, that’s where Point Nemo is, in the south Pacific Ocean, stranded with the closest pieces of land being Ducie Island to the north and Maher Island to the south… but if you just huffed a sigh of relief, I just checked and nobody even lives there. But maybe not all hope is lost, as Motu Nui is roughly the same distance as the other two islands, except this one is right next to Easter Island which is actually inhabited by living people… and not just penguins. But since Point Nemo is considered to be the oceanic pole of inaccessibility, its remoteness from civilization makes this the ideal place for the International Space Station to crash in the early 2030s. But if you’re wondering if Point Nemo gets its name from the clownfish… then it’s a no. Instead it comes from a character from the book, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, but the movie was apparently produced by Disney who also distributed Finding Nemo so coincidence? I think yeah.
