Washington election officials pushed back Friday against President Donald Trump's sweeping claims that China compromised American voter data and that mail voting and electronic election systems remain vulnerable to manipulation.
In a national address Thursday night, Trump said newly declassified intelligence showed China acquired millions of American voter files beginning during the 2020 election cycle.
He argued the information could be used to register voters or carry out other election-related misconduct and called on Congress to adopt new voter identification and citizenship requirements while sharply limiting mail voting.
