This wasn't just your dad's car. It was a tuned up, souped up racing machine that turned a domestic touring car series into a worldwide phenomenon.
But like most series that glowed up like it did... The bubble burst.
Group C, CanAm, LMP1, GT1... And now Super Touring. Rulebooks torn apart, loophole after loophole exploited, and spiralling costs driven by manufacturer blank cheques burst the bubble by the end of the decade.
So how did the series implode on itself? Good question. It's actually quite funny when you look at it...
