Description
June 3, 1988 - One of the most significant challenges when it came to defeating the Bad Boys-era Detroit Pistons centered around the realization that if you just happened to luck Isiah Thomas into a mediocre performance while also somehow clamping Joe Dumars to some degree, there was still a whole other flamethrower coming off the bench you'd have to deal with.
Vinnie Johnson was that dude in Game 6 of the 1988 Eastern Conference Finals. While Thomas and Dumars combined to shoot 6-of-19 from the field, Johnson came off the bench to lead the Pistons with 24 points on a 10-of-15 shooting, propelling his team to a 95-90 win over the Boston Celtics and securing their first Finals appearance in Detroit history.
