The Pistons' Full 1988 Conference Championship Celebration (Silverdome)

June 3, 1988 - Following a heartbreaking loss to Boston in 1987, the Detroit Pistons got their revenge a year later, eliminating the Celtics in six games to the advance to the first NBA Finals series in Detroit history. Before a raucous Pontiac Silverdome crowd of 38,912 (at the time the third-highest attendance for a playoff game in league history), the Pistons pulled away from the Celtics early in the second half, basking in a party-like atmosphere until the clock hit 0.00 and beyond.

The Pistons would go on to lose to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games before returning to the finals to take home championships in both 1989 and 1990.

This was the final season the Pistons called the Silverdome home. The Palace of Auburn Hills opened for the start of the 1988-89 campaign.
