Description
Two years ago, the Vancouver Canucks were rolling. They were tied for 1st place out of 32 teams in the NHL at the All Star break.
For many years, whenever I attend a Canucks home hockey game, I usually stop off at the New Town Bakery for a deep fried pork egg roll. Sometmes I eat the egg roll and sometimes I eat it at the Canucks game. They didn't have any egg rolls during Canucks game day. That's because there were no Canucks fans there except me. None of the Newtown Bakery Staff were wearing any Canucks jerseys, as they usually do on Canucks game day. I buy some Chinese Steamed Rice Rolls to take to the game. I'll tell you why when I get to the last Canucks Game of the season against Los Angeles Kings.
New Town Bakery is located in Vancouver's Chinatown. It has been in business for over 40 years. The owner is a fan of the Vancouver Canucks. Her favorite player was Alex Burrows, who was a key player in their run to the Stanley Cup in 2011. On home game day, most of the servers at the New Town Bakery wore Canucks jerseys with Alex Burrows name on them. I did see one of the servers wearing a Bo Horvat jersey.
This season, two years later, the Vancouver Canucks finish dead last out of 32 teams in the NHL. Sometimes I jokingly say the Canucks are cursed to never win the Stanley Cup.
Also in this video I attend the picking of the draft lottery order of drafting held on May 5, 2026. Vancouver Canucks have never picked the number one draft lottery pick in the 50 years since the Vancouver Canucks joined the NHL in 1970. Is that part of the Vancouver curse as well?
In this video, II also tell you what I eat and drink to comfort myself during a lifelong curse of Vancouver Canucks losing hockey.
