I was lucky on my decision to ride the light rail all the way to Hazel this day filmed. The reason I say this is because since Radius Recycling was the only job this day in Rancho as there was no service this day for Pacific Supply nor Wayside Lumber, I would sometimes one catch an eastbound move of this train and sit it out somewhere else for the Westbound to come back instead of doing a normal chase. After my estimated time on when the Flyer should be done working Radius, I decided to ride the light rail all the way to Hazel and didn't expect to see the power for the Flyer parked east of the Nimbus Rd crossing nearly parked at the Hazel Station. For those that don't know, it is rare to see freight movement on the Placerville Branch East of Nimbus Rd/Hazel Ave as its past the run-around siding track and since the Aerojet Spur was removed decades ago, the line east of Nimbus Rd service no purpose but a tail track area for the rare times a train maybe to long for the siding and have to cut the train in half to run around and switch which is the other rare move here and even then, its not a full pass by the crossing since cars still sit on top the crossing if the train has to pull a long trainset past the siding to get around.
This right here is even a more rare move as by it being 2 locomotives only, the train pulled completely past the Nimbus Rd crossing which is the move I missed as I was unaware it happened this when I arrived, I quickly setup to get the units move back west and for the first time, I got to see the freight line activation of Nimbus Rd coming from the east side which in this video, I had discovered that it is only island circuited so the faded stop sign on the east side did serve a purpose. It has been decades since a train on the freight track side activated the Nimbus Rd crossing from the eastern side. The crossing also had a what was that moment as the gate stayed down even when the train exited into the non circuit run-around siding track as nothing on the freight track has activated the crossing from the east in Decades. I think they did this as one of the crew members had to use the bathroom at the shopping center nearby or got something to east and they just parked the power near the Hazel Station. Whatever it was, it caused this rare move.
