Sacramento Regional Transit light rail trains on the SACRT Gold Line pass through the Butterfield Way railroad crossing in Sacramento, California.
NOTE, also that this is NOT set this way. This is my local area and I come across these crossings many times. That's how I know and are able to monitor them. Along the Gold Line, SACRT crossings GS Type 2 E-Bells that were installed in the early 2000s back in 2003 are having problems ringing when cold and in railby or foggy weather. Some just ring late like here, and some don't ring at all when cold. When the day warms up, the bells ring with no problems. This is the reason to these won't be replaced because when a maintainer comes by them, they'll likely by ringing later in the day. This would be a morning thing on cold and or rainy days in fall while in winter when we get deeper into folder weather, these bells will function like this all day. Crossings that when cold have a GS Type 2 E-Bell that starts ringing late is Mayhew Rd cantilever, Butterfield Way cantilever, and Horn Rd Northern signal. Crossings with GS Type 2s that wont ring when cold are Bradshaw Rd Cantilever, Mayhew Rd cantilever also again. Crossings that the volume of the GS Type 2 drops or tone is lost is the northern signal at Routier Rd. SACRT has a lot of older GS Type 2s so I would be surprised if the R Street street running crossings may suffer from this also and have one of the 3 effects above in cold weather.

This crossing owned by Sacramento Regional Transit is an mixed install with the right shoulder signal, far side median signal, and cantilever gated mast being SP mid to late 1980s signal installs with changes overtime to all three of them over the years. The shoulder signal changes to its bell, lights, gates, gate lights, mechanism, and counterweight arms and relocated in the late 90s. The far median over the years changes to its lights (a pair added on back too), gates, gate lights, mechanism, counterweight arms, and base being reinstalled in the mid 2010s after knocked down. The cantilevers gated mast changes overtime its bel, lights, and signs removed & its pair of lights reused at Horn Rd, changes to its gate, gate lights, mechanism, ane counterweight arms. The cantilever itself and closer median signal are SACRT late 1990s signal installs with changes to the cantilevers bell and medians gate, gate lights, mechanism, and counterweight arms.
